FAQ

We know you may have questions about your dental care—and we’re here to answer them. Below are some of the most common questions we receive, grouped by service type. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact us.

Preventive Care
We recommend bringing your child in by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth erupting. Early visits help us monitor development, build positive habits, and detect issues before they become problems. We also give parents valuable guidance on brushing, nutrition, and teething.
Most patients benefit from cleanings and exams every six months. Regular visits help catch early signs of decay, gum disease, and other issues before they require more advanced treatment.
Restorative Dentistry
It depends on how much of the tooth structure is compromised. If a filling covers a large If a portion of the tooth is missing or if there’s a risk of fracture, a crown may be recommended to restore strength, protect the tooth, and prevent future damage.
Cosmetic Dentistry
In-office whitening delivers faster, more dramatic results with professional-strength gel and expert monitoring. At-home options are more gradual and convenient but may take weeks to reach the same brightness level. We offer both options and will help you choose the one that best fits your goals.
Veneers are a long-term solution but are not considered reversible, as a thin layer of enamel is removed. With proper care, they can last 10–15 years or more.
Orthodontics
Most patients wear Invisalign aligners for 6 to 18 months, depending on the complexity of their case. Aligners should be worn 20–22 hours a day and changed every 1–2 weeks as instructed. Regular check-ins help keep your treatment on track and ensure steady progress.
Yes. Invisalign can address many mild to moderate bite issues. During your consultation, we’ll determine if you’re a good candidate based on your bite and alignment needs.
Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)
No. Modern root canal therapy is designed to relieve pain—not cause it. The area is fully numbed before treatment, and most patients say the experience feels similar to getting a standard filling. You may have mild soreness afterward, but it’s usually manageable with over-the-counter medication.
Symptoms may include sensitivity to heat/cold, deep decay, swelling, or persistent tooth pain. We’ll take X-rays to confirm whether the inner pulp is infected or inflamed.
Cracked Tooth Treatment
Unfortunately, no. A cracked tooth requires evaluation and often treatment to prevent the crack from worsening or leading to infection. Depending on the severity, we may recommend a crown, root canal, or other restorative solution to stabilize and save the tooth.
Common signs include pain when chewing, sensitivity to temperature, or discomfort that comes and goes. A thorough exam and bite test can help us confirm the issue.
Pediatric Dentistry
This condition occurs when sugary liquids, such as milk or juice, remain in contact with your child’s teeth for long periods—especially overnight. You can prevent it by avoiding bottles in bed, cleaning your child’s gums and teeth daily, and encouraging water between meals.
Thumb-sucking is normal in infants, but prolonged habits beyond age 4 can affect jaw growth and tooth alignment. We’ll monitor your child’s development and offer gentle guidance if needed.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are designed to be a long-term, stable solution for missing teeth. With proper care, they can last many years or even a lifetime. Maintenance includes daily brushing, flossing, and regular checkups—just like natural teeth.
Bone grafting is recommended when there isn’t enough healthy bone to support a dental implant. Bone loss may result from gum disease, injury, or long-term tooth loss. Grafting rebuilds the jawbone, creating a stable foundation for future implant placement and long-term restoration success.
Dentures & Partials
Most patients adjust to new dentures within a few weeks. It’s normal to experience slight soreness or increased saliva at first. Eating and speaking may feel different, but with practice and minor adjustments, dentures become comfortable and functional.
We recommend removing dentures at night to let your gums rest and to reduce bacteria buildup. Overnight soaking also helps keep them clean and hydrated.
Smile Makeovers
Yes! A smile makeover often involves combining cosmetic and restorative treatments. We’ll work with you to create a custom plan that fits your needs, timeline, and budget—ensuring every procedure complements the others for a beautiful result.
It depends on the treatments involved. Some patients see results in a few weeks, while others complete their makeover over several months. We’ll build a plan around your needs.
